36ers team up with Patty Mills

The Adelaide 36ers are proud to announce the release of the "Patty Mills" seats for this seasons 36ers games.

After visiting Adelaide for the recent Boomers game versus Argentina, Mills and 36ers CEO Ben Fitzsimons decided to work together to encourage indigenous youth to become more involved in basketball.

Mills has purchased a number of seats to every 36ers game this season with a view to rewarding young indigenous kids who stay in school with a trip to a 36ers game.

Each visiting school will be announced at 36ers home games this season.

Local indigenous youth mentor and former NBL basketballer, Paul Vandenbergh, will work with the 36ers to identify the best recipients of the Patty Mills seats.

Mills himself grew up in Ceduna and is a great inspiration to young children of what can be achieved in life. Mills and the 36ers are hoping that this programme will introduce some new talent to basketball as well as instill a sense of achievement for all the recipients.

36ers sign Troy DeVries

The Adelaide 36ers would like to confirm that their second import signing for 2010/11 will be former West Sydney Razorbacks guard Troy DeVries.

DeVries played 30 games for the Razorbacks in 2007/08 and averaged 16.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 27.8 minutes per game.

Renowned as an outstanding three-point shooter, he made 43.6% of his three-pointers and shot 45.6% from the field.

The 195cm guard was a star at the University of New Mexico and left school as that college's all-time leader in three-point shooting.

36ers recruit two Crows stars, sort of!

The Adelaide 36ers have signed two new recruits as "Part of the Team", Kurt Tippett and Taylor Walker.

That�s right... the Adelaide Crows stars have thrown their support behind the 36ers and will have their names watermarked on the back of every 36ers playing singlet.

Kurt Tippett was a star junior baller before he gave up the hoops to take screamers for the Crows fans and become one of the AFL�s biggest stars.

Kurt who attended a number of 36ers games last season said �I really enjoy going to watch the Sixers play and this is a great way for every fan to get behind their team�.

After receiving a NAB rising star nomination last season Taylor Walker is now an integral part of the Crows line up and has teamed well with Kurt to form one of the most imposing forward lines in the competition in the competition.

36ers sign import Craig Winder

The Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce that they have secured the signature of American point guard, Craig Winder.

Winder represents the results of an exhaustive search by the Adelaide 36ers to find the right man to lead the team on court this season.

Winder played in College for the Texas Longhorns alongside NBA superstar Kevin Durant as well as Charlotte Bobcat, DJ Augustin. Winder has spent the past few seasons honing his craft in the NBA D League.

It is in the D League that Winder came to prominence by hitting 14 points in the final quarter of the grand final including the buzzer-beating, game-winning shot.

The 36ers expect Winder to be in Australia to meet his team mates by mid-August.

The 36ers now have one spot on their roster to complete the team for season 2010-11.

SANFL stars become "Part of the Team"

Central Districts champions Chris and James Gowans, pictured with Captain Adam Ballinger, have also got behind the club getting their names on our singlet for the coming season as "Part of the Team".

Chris and James, who have both won an amazing 8 premierships with Central Districts were more than happy to be involved and join the growing list of names which include Australian Basketballer Brad Newley and many of the Adelaide 36ers members who have decided to take advantage of this special and unique opportunity.

"I think it�s a great idea, a great chance for the members and supporters to really do and have something unique with the club" said Chris. "Imagine having your name on a singlet that won the championship that year, not many people can say they had that opportunity" added James.

The Adelaide 36ers thank Chris and James for getting on board with the club and look forward to seeing them at games this season and wish them all the best for the remainder of the SANFL year as they move closer towards another Grand Final appearance.

First import signing announced 1pm today

The Adelaide 36ers will be announcing their first import signing for 2010/11 at 1pm, Adelaide time, today.

Head Coach, Marty Clarke, will be at the Dome this afternoon from 1pm to explain his selection of the player in question and talk about what he expects 36ers fans can expect him to bring to the team.

36ers go Back to Blue

The Adelaide 36ers would like to announce that for the 2010/11 season the home uniform will be returning to Blue.

To ensure that the club has it's own identity within the league, we have chosen to return to blue, the colour in which we have won 3 championships.

With three other teams wearing predominantly red uniforms this season, this move has been taken to ensure the 36ers stand alone in their look whilst still maintaining our state colours as part of the uniform, and will be a change for the long term.

A reminder that you should renew your season tickets by the 1st August in order to have the best chance to secure the same seats as last season. And if you want to be Part Of The Team, you need to get that in to the club by the 1st August as well. Visit our Tickets section for more information.

Brad Newley is 'Part of the Team'

The Adelaide 36ers have finally secured Brad Newley's name on the back of their NBL singlet.

But no, the outstanding 198cm Boomers Olympic guard has not turned his back on Lithuania's Lietuvos Rytas and the European season for a run at last with the 36ers.

It's all part of a club promotion allowing fans to be "Part of the Team".

"We're trying to give our fans a chance to do something unique and have their name on our NBL uniforms," Sixers chief executive Ben Fitzsimons said.

There is room for 500 names on the 36ers' top and already 125 at $150 have been snapped up by fans eager to be, well, "part of the team".

"Your name can be on the back of the singlet for the season," Fitzsimons said.

"It's open to all of our fans and we think it would make a fairly unique birthday or Christmas present."

As for Boomers star Newley, his name is not part of a promotional gimmick.

"No, Brad was one of the first to buy a spot on the top," Fitzsimons said.

36ers to conduct trials next week

The Adelaide 36ers will conduct trials for their development player and train on spots for the NBL season 2010-11 next week.

Monday July 5th and July 6th from 4pm � 6pm will see 25 of South Australia's best up and coming basketballers showcasing their talents in front of new 36ers coach Marty Clarke.

Marty Clarke and his assistant Mark Radford have spent the last few weeks watching Central ABA games and have extended invites to all local clubs to nominate their best young talent.

Marty Clarke will be available to speak to media at 3:45pm Monday and Tuesday to discuss the recruiting process and his views of talent in South Australia.

Patty Mills visits Brett Maher Court

Boomers talent and NBA player Patty Mills recently visited Brett Maher Court to meet a group of indigenous youngsters and answer questions from 36ers fans.

Expected to lead the Boomers from the point guard spot in the upcoming series against Argentina in Australia, Patty posed for photographs and signed autographs with the indigenous talent at the Adelaide clinic.

Adam Ballinger, Brad Hill and Jacob Holmes were also there to help out.
